Mirror cabinets are an ideal combination of a space-saving bathroom cabinet and a practical mirror. They keep make-up, body care items, medication, etc. at eye level while at the same time creating order and making things easier to find. Because they are usually located right above the sink, all of your important toiletries are right at hand and you don't have to spend hours searching for them. Bathroom cabinets with mirrors can fit into every bathroom because the size of the bathroom is not a concern. They are almost always mounted directly above the sink so they do not take up any space. That's especially advantageous in smaller bathrooms.
Since ceiling lighting is often inadequate in many bathrooms - especially in bathrooms without any windows - mirror cabinets with lighting, such as a mirror cabinet with LED lights, are often the optimal solution. This means you don't need to set aside extra room in your home for make-up and styling. Mirror cabinets with outlets are even more convenient. You can plug in your hair dryer or electric razor directly on the cabinet. All in all, mirror cabinets make your bathroom experience easier in every respect.
Which Mirror Cabinet Is Right for Your Bathroom?
Each bathroom is different in size and has its own individual layout. You'll want to install a different type of mirror cabinet in a single household than you would in a guest bathroom or in the bathroom of a large family. A mirror cabinet in the bathroom should be perfectly customized to individual needs: It needs to be big enough to hold all of your everyday care products but not so big that it doesn't fit perfectly into your bathroom.
You can use the following points as a guide:
Mirror cabinet with one door:
This type of mirror cabinet is narrow and compact, making it ideal for single households, small bathrooms or guest bathrooms. Our Duravit mirror cabinets are available in widths as narrow as 60 cm. These make an ideal pair when combined with smaller sinks. The fully mirrored door provides maximum comfort since your reflection is a continuous, uninterrupted image. This makes your morning make-up and styling routine so much easier.
Mirror cabinet with 2 doors:
This type of mirror cabinet is especially well-suited to small families or couples. Having two individual cabinet doors makes it easy to divide everyone’s toiletries up. This simplifies to keep track of your bathroom items and to keep your own care products at hand. Our Duravit mirror with 2 doors are available in widths from 60 to 130 cm.
Mirror cabinet with 3 doors:
The mirror cabinets with 3 doors in our product range are 120 cm wide. The big advantage of these mirror cabinets is that everyone can stake out their own individual storage areas. This makes 3-door mirror cabinets ideal for large families or shared living situations. Tip: These really come into their own on large walls.
Mirror Cabinets with Lighting
Perfect illumination that is gentle on the eyes
Mirror cabinets with lighting will help simplify your morning and evening routines. Proper lighting makes styling and applying make-up easier. Our Duravit mirror cabinets have lighting on the top, the sides or all four sides. The light comes from the front and optimally lights up your face without overstraining your eyes and without any glare. To further protect your eyes, our mirror cabinets from the XViu series, for example, are also equipped with ambient lighting, which provides indirect lighting. Practical mirror cabinets with lighting are ideal for every bathroom because they make every room a brighter and friendlier place.
Mirror cabinets with LED lighting
Our Duravit mirror cabinets are all available with lighting and are all equipped with LEDs. One of the advantages of mirror cabinets with LED lighting is that they consume less energy than conventional light bulbs, making them more energy efficient. LEDs also generate a lot less heat, which in turn serves to protect the mirror cabinet. With a rating of more than 30,000 hours, they are also particularly long-lasting.
Mirror cabinets for moisture-prone areas
However, mirror cabinet lighting is not the only quality feature. Bathrooms tend to be prone to humidity. To protect our bathroom furniture, it is designed especially for moisture-prone areas. This means that the Duravit mirror cabinets have no open edges and they come with IP44 splash protection. Our bathroom furniture is also made entirely in Germany.
More Advantages of Duravit Mirror Cabinets at a Glance
Neben der innovativen und energieeffizienten LED-Außenbeleuchtung besitzen unsere Spiegelschränke je nach Serie und Modell noch weitere attraktive Vorteile:
LED dimming function
In order not to be disturbed by light that is too bright in the morning, the LED lights can be dimmed individually and to best suit you.
Interior LED lighting
The interior of the mirror cabinet stores everyday items for your bathroom routine. The interior LED lighting is ideal for minimizing the time it takes to find specific items. The interior is lit up perfectly. This feature is also available with an automatic on/off function.
Lighting for the washing area
The lighting for the washing area in the mirror cabinet makes it even more convenient. This lighting is found on the underside of the mirror cabinet and illuminates the washing area in the best possible way. This feature is either already integrated or can be optionally added at the factory.
Doors mirrored on both sides
Duravit mirror cabinet doors are also mirrored on the inside. When the doors are open you can look at yourself from all sides - even from behind - without any problems. Some models also come with a mirrored back wall inside the mirror cabinet.
Built-in interior outlet(s)
Built-in outlets inside the mirror cabinet are the perfect solution when you want to avoid having to use an outlet that is too far away. Ideal for shaving, blow-drying your hair or charging your electric toothbrush.
Touchless icon controls
These models come with a non-contact external control on the mirror cabinet. In addition to controlling the dimmable lighting and ambient lighting, the icons can be used to set the color tone of the light.
Depending on the model, a motion sensor is located on the outside of the mirror cabinet. It detects motion so the light can be controlled without any contact. For this feature to work properly, you need to maintain a certain minimum distance from reflective surfaces.
Integrated wave board
Our XViu and XSquare mirror cabinets offer this special feature. The bottom shelf has a wavy profile. This is especially good for storing small items such as make-up. The wavy profile keeps them well stowed away so they don't slip and they are always right at hand.
Light color adjustment
Whether you want a warmer light, a colder light or something in between: All of this can be adjusted in the mirror cabinet light color settings (only available for models in the XViu series). They also come with a memory function so you don't need to readjust the color every day.
Duravit mirror cabinets offer maximum comfort and convenience. With all of the selectable functions available, you will find the ideal mirror cabinet for your individual bathroom design. Details about the exact functions of a given mirror cabinet can be found in the respective product description.
Installing a Mirror Cabinet
General recommendations: In order to ensure that nothing gets damaged when installing the mirror cabinet and to make sure that it is properly attached, we recommend having it installed by qualified personnel. Once you've found the perfect mirror cabinet, installation can sometimes be a challenge. Below you will find a few hints and tips to make installing your mirror cabinet as easy as possible. However, this is not a replacement for the assembly instructions.
1. Mirror cabinet tip: Height
The first thing to think about is the proper installation height. The mirror cabinet in your bathroom should always be at eye level so that you can see yourself in the mirror comfortably and effortlessly. The middle of the cabinet should generally be at a height of about 165 cm.
2. Mirror cabinet tip: Position on the wall
Many bathrooms are tiled. If this is the case, you should make sure that the drill holes don't end up directly on the tiles since they can break when drilling the holes. Using the joints for the suspension holes is a better idea. Installing the mirror cabinet flush with the tile joints is an especially nice aesthetic. Since the mirror cabinet is equipped with a light, make sure that there is a power connection nearby.
3. Mirror cabinet tip: The right tool for the job
A drill that is suitable for the type of wall will be needed for installation. The appropriate drill hole locations should be marked with a pencil. A level also helps when installing your mirror cabinet to make sure that the finished installation is plumb and even.
4. Mirror cabinet tip: Installation
In addition to tools, plastic anchors and associated screws are required for installation. After the holes have been drilled, the anchors can be inserted into the holes followed by the screws. Depending on whether you're installing a bathroom mirror cabinet with a light and/or an outlet as well as where the power connection is located, the electricity may need to be disconnected prior to installation. This work should also be professionally carried out by qualified personnel. The final step is to hang the mirror cabinet according to the assembly instructions.
