When we talk about toilet seats, we always mean a set comprised of a toilet seat and a toilet lid. A well matched set of a toilet seat and toilet lid will go a long way towards a successful bathroom design. The primary considerations to look for include hygiene, comfort and seat ergonomics. Duravit offers a wide range of toilet seats in various shapes and sizes. We have toilet seats and toilet lids in black, matte anthracite or matte white satin and seats with special features, like toilet seats with a soft-close function.
Toilet Seats and Toilet Lids – the Toilet Seat With the Right Shape
Both the shape of the toilet and the distance between the hinges should always be taken into account when shopping for the right toilet seat. Despite the fact that toilets are not standardized, there are a few shapes and sizes that have gained a foothold among manufacturers. The following is always the top priority: The toilet and the toilet seat, which consists of a toilet seat and a toilet lid, should match and create a coherent whole. The seat and the ceramic of the toilet can either be flush with each other or you can choose a toilet seat that sits a little bit beyond the edge of the toilet bowl. Some toilet seats have a toilet lid that sticks out slightly past the seat so you don't have to touch the toilet seat when opening and closing it.
You will find the following toilet seat shapes in Duravit's portfolio:
Toilet seats with a D-shaped lid are very modern and they are often installed in wall-mounted toilets.
The round O-shape is also used in wall-mounted toilets and it's the most commonly used type in the US.
Toilet lids with a square shape are pretty rare, but in combination with a matching toilet they make a truly modern design statement.
When replacing a toilet lid, it's important to know the shape of the toilet seat as well as the dimensions and the outer contour of the toilet bowl. The dimensions can be determined in advance by measuring the length of the toilet bowl from the mounting hole to the front edge, as well as the width and the distance between the mounting holes. Accuracy is important when taking these measurements. Professional installation of the toilet seat not only guarantees that the toilet seat won't slip out of position but also ensures that it fits the toilet perfectly in terms of appearance.
The Duravit portfolio includes various toilet lids and toilet seats to perfectly match every type of toilet. Depending on the model, our toilet seats can be removed in no time with a simple movement - by pushing the buttons on the sides - without the use of any tools. This makes it easier to access even hard-to-reach places, which in turn makes it easier to clean the toilet seat and toilet lid, and to clean the rest of the toilet as well.

Duravit Toilet Seat and Cover Finder
Are you looking for a compatible toilet seat and cover for your Duravit toilet? The Toilet Seat and Cover Finder identifies which Duravit toilet you have, and the toilet seats and covers that are compatible with it.
Duravit uses two different basic materials in our toilet seats and toilet lids:
1. Urea (Duroplast):
Urea is a hard and stable material and its defining characteristic is its scratch-resistant surface. It is a premium material in terms of quality and appearance, which makes Duroplast toilet seats particularly robust and durable.
2. PP (polypropylene/thermoplastic):
PP, also called thermoplastic by some, is a relatively soft material. It's potentially more prone to scratches, but it still passes rocker testing. This makes the easy-care plastic a very good choice for a toilet seat material. Thermoplastic toilet seats are relatively inexpensive and can also be recycled.
Toilet seats are always attached to the toilet bowl using hinges. Duravit hinges are available in plastic and stainless steel.
Special Toilet Seat Designs
