How everything began
Duravit still influences bathroom design. This is largely thanks to the collaboration with Dieter Sieger, which commenced in 1990. A starting signal for us as a manufacturer of designer bathrooms. With the \"Darling\" ceramic series, we set standards and, looking back, can see that we changed the industry. There's no doubt that this required a certain degree of courage, but mainly a love of sustainable design and timeless forms, something that is still apparent today in every Duravit product.

Dieter Sieger, born in Münster/ Westphalia in 1938, studied architecture at the Werkkunstschule Dortmund and, after graduating, founded his architectural practice in 1964. He started designing houses and then went on to design the interiors of sailing and motor yachts. In 1980, he started his third career with product design and exhibition stand construction. In 1987, he designed the Giamo bathroom series for Duravit. With the striking shape of the bathroom ceramics and the perfectly matched bathroom furniture, Sieger optimised the new series concept. In the following years, there were further successful bathroom series, such as Dellarco, Lavillette and Darling. Dieter Sieger is one of the world's most innovative and successful designers in the bathroom sector. 2003 his two sons took over the helm: Michael (born 1968), "the creative one", studied industrial design at the GH Essen and product design at the FH Münster. Together with his brother Christian (born 1965), "the manager", he developed further successful bathroom concepts for Duravit: 2nd floor, Darling New, X-Large and Happy D.2. Sieger Design also creates products for clients such as Arzberg, Dornbracht, Sony and WMF.
