Not only are the giants of the sea exhibited here and the underwater worlds of the Baltic and the North Sea simulated in the largest aquariums in Germany, but the building itself also sets impressive standards. Despite its complex function as an aquarium, the building’s ingenious structural engineering allows it to conserve energy.
The architecture can be seen from afar and cuts into the sky like a white sail in the wind; it is so carefully positioned against the backdrop of one of Germany’s most attractive Baltic cities that it poses no threat whatsoever to any ambitions as a world heritage site. On the contrary – it is an impressive example of how to add modern elements to a medieval city. In this notable structure, Duravit products look after the welfare of guests in the washroom and toilet areas. And the products certainly have to withstand quite a lot: the tremendous rush of visitors to the museum!
