Campaign

At this year’s ISH a campaign is launched to highlight the importance of a responsible approach to the use of water. The campaign is organized by the VDMA – Fittings Association – together with the German Sanitation Industry Form with a sponsoring of the Association of the German Sanitation Industry.
Under the overall title of „Blue Responsibility” the campaign aims to showcase the wide variety of technical solutions the German sanitation industry offers. Duravit is one of the renowned companies providing sustainable solutions.

The company was founded over 190 years ago in the heart of the Black Forest. Its origins in these exceptional natural surroundings have exerted a lasting influence on the company’s history. Duravit not only supports the Black Forest Nature Park but from its earliest days has also espoused a responsible attitude to the environment. Duravit AG is certified for its environmental commitment according to ISO 14001 as an environmentally aware company.

On the product side, Duravit had already reduced the amount of water required for flushing in the 1980s from the normal 9-14 litres to just 6 litres. Today it offers WCs that can flush hygienically using 4.5 litres of water. The dual-flush button also saves precious water. With the McDry urinal, the manufacturer proves that water can be done away with altogether. Alternatively, the Architec urinal flushes automatically with just 1 litre. Wondergliss-coated ceramics and glass make aggressive cleansers unnecessary. Duravit tubs offer full comfort with economical water consumption. Light and colour programs with LEDs cut electricity consumption by two thirds.

In its manufacturing facilities Duravit has systems for recycling water and the waste heat in the ceramic firing and drying processes is returned to the production process. All waste wood and chippings in the manufacture of bathroom furniture are recycled and used as fuel. In the coating filter system, a doctor blade technique is used to remove residue in an environmentally friendly manner, allowing it to be disposed of as simple domestic waste.
